Broads Bee Premium Underfloor Entrances
Underfloor entrances have become increasingly popular with beekeepers looking to help their colonies defend themselves against wasps. We changed all of our full-size colonies over to underfloor entrances because we're now seeing significant wasp pressure well into winter, sometimes even beyond Christmas, and we've found that even strong colonies can struggle.

We set out to build a floor that is strong, durable and built to last. Of course, you can knock one up out of pallet wood, and many people do. We wanted to produce something that would still be going strong years down the line.
Our underfloor entrances are manufactured from quality Swedish redwood using stainless steel fixings throughout. They're glued and screwed where strength matters, producing an exceptionally rigid floor. We've stood on them, bounced on them and generally abused them in the workshop, and they don't give an inch!
The mesh versions also use stainless steel varroa mesh, so there's no slowly watching galvanised mesh rust away after a few seasons.

We supply these floors untreated, allowing you to finish them however you prefer. Many beekeepers choose to apply a bee-friendly preservative, while others prefer to wax dip them. We'll leave that decision up to you. You can contact us to ask about having us treat them with clear cuprinol, a bee friendly preservative, however please allow four two five weeks before using with your bees. For that reason, and to get them out to people before it's too late for the wasps this year, we are sending them untreated. The untreated ones that I have added this summer will come off when the threat has passed and be done then.

Choosing the correct floor
Please choose your option carefully, as these floors are available in a range of configurations. We currently offer versions for different hive types and bee-space arrangements.
If you're unsure whether you need a National or Langstroth floor, or whether your hive uses top bee space or bottom bee space, please get in touch before ordering. We'd much rather spend a few minutes helping you choose the correct floor than have you pay return postage to exchange one ordered in error.
If you have any questions at all, just email info@broadsbee.co.uk and we'll be happy to help.

Designed by beekeepers, for beekeepers. Built to withstand years of use rather than just a couple of seasons.
Please allow up to 7 days for your floors to be shipped as they will be made to order.
