Norfolk Honey Extraction Services

We've invested a lot of money in our dedicated Honey Room.  We've bought all the right equipment to efficiently cater for our own extraction and jarring.  Most of our equipment is from the Lyson brand, including a Melliflow, 20 frame extractor, 100litre honey sump for filtering, we also have settling tanks, a creamer to make soft set honey and an automatic jarring machine.  We're adding more toys as we find an excuse to get them!  This is all set out in a bespoke Honey Room which has been fitted out with the input of our local Environmental Health together with a fully compliant HACCP and all the other documentation needed.  We are fully insured and proud to be members of the Bee Farmers Association.

We're only a small family business, so that means that all of that lovely equipment could sit unused for a lot of the time  We also know that for some people, honey extraction can be a real chore.  Especially when you have more than a couple of hives, but not enough to consider spending thousands of pounds on all that shiny equipment.

For that reason we've decided to offer an Extraction and Jarring service for our fellow beekeepers in Norfolk, and beyond if you want to travel!

The idea is simple.  You drop off your honey supers full of your bee's capped honey frames to our site between Wroxham and Stalham in the Norfolk Broads.  We can come and collect as well, if that's easier for you.  Within a day or two, you come back and collect your supers with their now empty frames, and all of your extracted honey in nice new honey buckets.  If you want us to jar the honey for you, we'll need a few extra days.  You can supply the buckets, or we can sort that for you, same goes for the jars.  We're not yet applying labels, we have to leave some of the fun for you!

Pricing

We've thought long and hard about how to keep the pricing of this service simple.  Hopefully our pricing is easy to understand and you can of course phone, text, email, whatsapp or whatever else you want to use to ask any questions that you might have.

Price Per Frame Leaving Wax Cappings With Us

 £1.20
Price Per Frame Taking Wax Cappings Away £1.45
Cost of Food Grade Honey Bucket £4.50 per bucket, or supply your own.
Cost to Jar £0.25p per jar into customer supplied jar. If we supply the jars then it will vary depending on jar.  An example price for us to supply and fill a 12oz Hex Jar with your honey would be £1.00p per jar.
Cost to Collect Full Supers and Return Empty Supers with Buckets/Jars. £0.45p per mile.

There is a minimum charge of £100, so if you only have a couple of hives, why not get together with a friend to double up and meet the minimum charge.  Your frames will be processed together, but we'll be able to split your quantities pretty well between you.

Get in contact to book a slot.  If it's extraction into buckets then it'll be done the same day, or within a couple of days.  If it's jarring as well, then please leave a couple of weeks between dropping off and expecting your jars.  It may be faster, but sometimes we have honey in the settling tanks already so we may need to pop yours in the queue.

You don't need to read the examples below, but it might help you see what to expect.

Examples

You have 6 supers of honey to extract and you work with 9 frames per box.  You don't want your old wax back, and you're happy to take the honey away in buckets which you'd like us to supply.

6 x 9 frame supers = 54 frames = £64.80

You'll need roughly 5 food grade honey buckets = £22.50

Total £87.30, Minimum charge of £100 though, so you can pay that to get yours done or...

Tony down the road has bees as well.  You've shared a 3 frame manual extractor before and take turns messing up each other's kitchens!  You mention the service that you've found online..  He wants to come on board and have his 8 full supers done as well.

Now it's 14 x 9 frame supers =  126 frames = £151.20

We'll need about 12 buckets now, you'll get 5, and Tony the other 7 = £54

Total £205.20.  How you decide to split the bill is up to you!

Tony isn't interested, he's still willing to beat himself up with the manual extractor for one more year.  So you wonder about getting us to jar it as well.  That way you can be in the pub whilst Tony is still swearing because he lost the ball bearing when he cleaned the extractor last year...

6 x 9 frame supers = 54 frames = £64.80

We don't need buckets because you're having the honey put into roughly 200 12oz hex jars.

200 x £1.00 = £200

Total £264.80 and no messy extraction or jarring to do.

Hopefully that all makes sense.  We can be quite flexible with what we do, you can always ask if it's something we can offer.
